Child Care & Early Education

Florida Child Care Annual In-Service Training (Continuing Education)

A continuing-education refresher for Florida child care personnel across the recurring topics revisited each year after initial training. After completing their introductory training, Florida child care staff must complete in-service training every year to stay current and compliant — this course reviews those core areas in one place. It covers a health and safety refresher (safe sleep and SIDS reduction, shaken baby / abusive head trauma prevention, illness and communicable disease, medication administration, hand hygiene, playground and environmental safety, safe transportation with name-to-face counts and no-child-left-in-vehicle sweeps, and emergency and disaster preparedness), child development and developmentally appropriate practice (milestones, DAP, brain development and serve-and-return, positive guidance and discipline, challenging behavior, and trauma-informed care), abuse recognition and mandatory reporting to the Florida Abuse Hotline (1-800-962-2873), professional ethics, boundaries and confidentiality, cultural responsiveness, and family engagement and professional development (communicating with families, inclusion of children with disabilities, nutrition and CACFP, self-care and burnout, career pathways and credentials such as the FCCPC/CDA, and staying compliant with Florida's Chapter 65C rules). Every module has plain-language lessons, knowledge checks, and a randomized mastery check, ending with a 50-question mixed continuing-education mock and a spaced-repetition flashcard deck of high-yield facts. This is study prep and continuing-education review; it is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF).
